DI PRINZIO CONCRETING & NEWCASTLE COMMUNITY SUPPORTING UNIVERSITY OF NEWCASTLE CANCER RESEARCH

Your generous donation to cancer research will go to the vital work of the Molecular Oncology Group at the University of Newcastle. Headed by Associate Professor Nikki Verrills, the Molecular Oncology Group are conducting ground-breaking research into the underlying biology of cancer, and novel ways to more effectively treat cancer. Their work uses cutting-edge ‘multi-omics’ technologies, which essentially means that they can look deeper inside a cancer cell than was ever previously possible. By doing this, the team has identified a number of new molecules within the cancer cells that they can effectively ‘target’ with new therapies. This kills the cancer cells but leaves the normal, healthy cells intact. The team also works closely with local clinicians to identify precisely which cancer patients will respond best to which new therapy – a process termed Precision Medicine.

Your donation will support essential pre-clinical testing of these new therapies in the laboratory, the last step required before human clinical trials.
